Session II Begins Monday June 17th

Important Notice!!!

Because of a combination of both new construction beginning and the anticipation of the high temperatures, we are moving the High Intensity Sports Training Session II & III to our 51st and Sheridan Indoor Hitting Location beginning Monday June 17th.

If you plan on attending Session II and have not pre-registered, please call or email us so that we can make sure we have enough instructors ready for class.

This league is designed to keep the players swinging the bats on down times.  The league will have 5 players to a team.  Teams will compete against other 5 player teams in their respectable age divisions one night a week for one hour at a time, no limit on innings played in that hour.

All players will receive a T-Shirt and the league champions will win a personalized wood bat from D-Bat.  There will two sessions to the league, June and July.  Winners of the sessions will compete in a one game World Series for the championship.

World Series game will be thrown live by Mike DiOrio.  Regular season games are thrown by a pitching machine.  A numbers system will be in place as to the hits.  There will be point areas in which the ball is hit at, this will determine the winning team of that game.

This league is for the players to compete against themselves, other competitors and to refine their swings while in a real game atmosphere.

Cost $65 per player ($325 per team)

First Session: June 17th-July 8th

Second Session: July 15th-August 9th

USSSA will be hosting a tournament to help benifit World Baseball Outreach in the greater Kansas City Area!  We will be up there collecting all of the donated equipment that the local teams will be donating to our equipment ministry here at WBO.

The tournament will be played at the Olathe/Raymore baseball fields May 3rd-5th, 2013.

The 2013 RBI Spring season is offically here and we are ready to have yet another successful and fun season.  Player and team registration has taken place and we are now looking forward to our annual kickoff RBI clinic at ONEOK Field, home of the Tulsa Drillers.  The RBI league focuses on increasing participation and interest in baseball and softball among under-served youth, encourages academic achievement, and promotes greater inclusion of minorities into the game. We served over 600 kids last season and are looking to serve just as many this season.

RBI Leagues were open to boys and girls playing baseball up until 1995 when softball was added into the program.  In 2010, Junior RBI was designed to create new playing divisions that provide baseball and softball opportunities for children ages 5-12.

The RBI leagues are generously supported by the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. To date, MLB Teams have drafted more than 190 RBI participants.

The Annual RBI Clinic will be held March 2nd from 10:00am-1:00pm at ONEOK field, home of the Tulsa Drillers.  Games will be played March 25th, 2013-May 24, 2013 and the league will have a big emhpasis on instruction and encouragement.

Volunteer meet and set up at 9am. (A gate code will be provided for you to park inside behind home plate.)

Softball Clinic – 10am to 11am

10U Clinic – 10am to 11am

Ages 11-14 Clinic – 11am to 1pm

This year eleven of us total made the trip including two people from California, one female coach from Florida and eight of us from here in Tulsa. Grant and Mitchell were two brothers from California who contacted us through our website when they were first interested about going on the trip. Robin is a softball coach and currently lives in Florida. She is originally from Stillwater and played with Kristie, who also made the trip, at Florida State University. Then we had Paige, Elizabeth and Marissa, who are three high school girls, that play softball at Jenks, Sand Springs and Mannford. Joseph and Andrew both go to Bishop Kelley High School and play baseball there as well.  Jerry and Barbara were our “parents” on the trip and were our team leaders in everything we did. We were one big family making the trip to serve others and minister to their communities.  For many of us this was our first experience on a mission trip and we had no idea what to truly expect, we were very excited for what was yet to come. 

We left Tulsa December 27th very early in the morning and arrive in Santo Domingo that afternoon.  We were welcomed by the YWAM staff, which is the ministry that we partnered with while during the duration of our stay .  We spent 10 days there and used up every minute given to us.  We were able to touch many families as we delivered groceries to their houses and prayed for blessings in their homes.  We spent a lot of time ministering to the youth there through the Los Buffalos Ministry.  We used baseball and softball to reach out to the kids and not only teach them about the game, but the importance of Faith in their communities and families.  We also visited several orphanages to spend time with kids and build relationships with them that will last forever.  We shared our stories and kept sharing with them how special each and every one of them were.

I know this was a great experience for all of us and something each of us will never forget.  Relationships were made and they will continue to grow and develop for many years.
